Opening Reception Thursday December 4, 6-8 P.M. As our stable of artists continues to expand, Bennett Street Gallery remains the premier source for contemporary art in Atlanta. We could not be more happy to introduce you to our newest additions…Artists Lisa Pressman, Courtney Garrett, Heather Barron, and Lisa Lala reflect on the passage of time and how internal and external events shape our lives, all while introducing new ideas of nostalgia and history in each brushstroke. Subjects and inspirations range from the backwoods of the deep South to the famous Wonder Wheel of 1920’s Coney Island. Charlotte Foust and Audrey Phillips pique our interest by drawing inspiration from everyday instincts and experiences and curtail these moments into abstracted representations full of energy. Dana Oldfather and Deborah Hake Brinckerhoff employ emotionally driven colors and shapes, exploring visual elements such as line and texture as they lure the viewer into each painting’s narrative. Gathering inspiration from the miracles of nature, Matthew Higginbotham, Tracey Lane, and Karen Weihs focus primarily on the landscape, each succeeding in creating a rich energy that forces one to celebrate the living land that nurtures and surrounds us all.
