Painting Yosemite
Top women plein-air painters converge to capture natural wonders

LODI
• This month 13 women are bringing the beauty of Yosemite National Park to Knowlton Gallery with their plein-air and studio paintings of the area. Yosemite on Canvas: 13 Western Artists Paint the Park is a special presentation of works created by the women during a weeklong trip to the Yosemite Valley in May. The group includes artists from Northern and Southern California, Nevada, and Utah. Laguna Beach artist Cynthia Britain and Marin County painter Zee Zee Mott organized the artists for the creative odyssey. Painting in weather ranging from snow to 100-degree heat, the artists lived together in cabins on what Mott calls a “no-frills” trip. Other participating artists include Kate Starling, Peggi Kroll-Roberts, and Debra Huse. The show runs through November 29, with an opening reception on October 3 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. For more information: 209.368.5123 or www.knowltongallery.com.
